Frequently Asked Questions

Working With Structo

The questions clients ask us most often, answered the way we would answer them on site.

What is your approach to sustainable construction?

We prioritize eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient designs, and waste reduction strategies. Our approach includes using sustainable lumber, solar-ready layouts, and recycled materials wherever possible to minimize environmental impact.

How do you ensure projects are delivered on time?

We use detailed project timelines, weekly progress tracking, and proactive communication with all subcontractors. Our project managers conduct regular site reviews to identify potential delays early and keep everything on schedule.

Can you handle both small and large-scale projects?

Yes. We have experience across projects of every size, from single-room renovations to fifty-storey commercial towers, and the same quality process applies to all of them.

Which areas do you work in?

We operate from three offices covering the east coast, the west coast and the central states. If your site sits outside those regions we will tell you honestly rather than stretch a team too thin.

Are you licensed, insured and bonded?

We hold a current contractor licence in every state we operate in, ten million dollars of public liability cover, and five million of professional indemnity for the design work we carry out in house. Performance bonds are available on request, and copies of every certificate go out with the contract rather than only when a client asks.

Do your own crews do the work, or subcontractors?

Site managers, carpenters, groundworkers and engineers are on our payroll, which is why the same faces stay on your job from start to finish. Genuinely specialist packages such as lifts, curtain walling and fire systems go to a pre-qualified subcontractor, but we hold that contract, not you, and we remain accountable for the work.

How do you keep a site safe?

Every task starts with a written method statement and risk assessment, every morning starts with a briefing, and every week ends with a recorded site inspection. Everyone who steps on site holds current certification for the work they are doing. We have run one point four million site hours without a lost-time incident, and we publish that number whether it is good or bad.

How do you handle noise, dust and neighbours?

Neighbours get a letter before the first machine arrives, with the working hours, the expected noisy phases and a direct number for our site manager. We use dust suppression, enclosed waste chutes and wheel washing as standard, and we stick to the agreed hours even when it would be faster not to.

How far ahead do we need to book?

Residential work is typically booking three to five months out, commercial eight to twelve. Design and planning can usually start within a fortnight, which is the part that takes longest anyway, so getting in touch early costs you nothing and protects your slot.

Projects, Quotes and Aftercare

How do I get a quote started?

Send us drawings, a sketch or even a written description through the contact page. We will arrange a site visit within ten working days and return a costed outline five days after that.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes. Every project is assigned a named site manager and a named commercial contact. You have both their direct numbers from day one, and they stay with your build until handover.

What happens if something goes wrong after handover?

Every build carries twelve months of defects cover as standard, with structural elements warranted for ten years. We aim to have a team on site within two working days of any reported defect.

Do you work with our own architect?

Often. If you already have a design team we will build to their drawings and join their coordination meetings. If you do not, our in-house team can take the design from first sketch.

What happens if you find something unexpected once work starts?

Poor ground, asbestos and undocumented services are the three usual surprises. We stop that element, photograph and document what we have found, and put the options in front of you in writing within forty-eight hours with a price against each. The survey stage exists to make this rare, but no survey catches everything.

Can we stay in the house or keep trading while you build?

Usually yes. We phase the programme, seal the working zone, and keep temporary power, water and access running for the part of the building you are still using. If doing it that way will cost you more than moving out for eight weeks, we will say so before you commit.

Can we choose our own materials and suppliers?

Yes. Bring us a specification and we will price it, then flag anything with a long lead time, a poor track record in your climate, or a warranty that will not survive installation. You can also buy items direct if you prefer, on the understanding that we cannot warrant products we did not supply.

Can we visit the site while work is in progress?

Any time, booked with the site manager so we can meet you with the right protective equipment and the right person to answer questions. If you cannot get there, the weekly report carries dated photographs of every area under work.

What do we actually receive at handover?

A full operation and maintenance manual, as-built drawings, every warranty and test certificate, the building control completion notice, and an hour on site walking through how the heating, ventilation and controls work. The snag list is cleared before handover, not after it.

Still Have a Question?

Ask it here and a real person answers it. Nothing you send is handed to a sales team, and nobody will chase you about it afterwards.

  • Answered by the project manager who would run your build
  • Most questions come back within one working day
  • No obligation, and no follow-up unless you ask for one
